Full Focus Forward

During the past few months, I have been learning a lot about the power of having a full focus forward in life.

You see, at times during the past year, I’ll admit that I’ve fallen into the trap of being too introspective or too attached to a past version of my life.

Instead of focusing on my speaking and business goals, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why a previous goal had been missed, and why a past relationship had ended.

I didn’t really figure out an answer to either, but what I did manage to do was lower my energy levels and make myself feel powerless.

That was when I realized something simple, obvious and profound:

Life changes.

Sometimes really quickly. Sometimes when we aren’t ready for the change. It can take a little while to catch up and adjust our habits and thinking to what has changed.

When you are struggling with something difficult that happened to you, a lot of people will tell you that you need to ‘let go’ of the past. What I found is that attempting to ‘let go’ actually made me dwell on the past more.

I’ve since learned that by focusing on where I am going that this automatically helps me let go of the past.

I discovered that having a full focus forward is a like having a secret super power.

When you focus on where you are going, you seem to attract the life you want towards you. It’s like your focus and your goals act as magnets, and opportunities arrive in front of you.

The stronger your forward focus becomes, the quicker you begin to move onwards and upwards.

It seems to me that there is a power that comes to a person who channels their energy into the world, and doesn’t dwell too much on their inner world or regrets of the past.

This is one of the interesting character traits of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. He seems to have an almost total outward focus in his life, working on huge projects that are attempting to alter the entire planet.

Because of this full focus forward, he gathers energy and momentum and people rally around his causes. I believe this is how he gets incredible results at astounding speed.

This same power to channel our energy into the world is available to all of us.

Life is very forgiving of mistakes we make, and it is always rewarding new action and energy.

I have been using this idea in my life as much as I can lately. I have been writing and speaking at every single opportunity. I have been almost completely focused on growing the value I create in the world. Already within the space of a few months I can see a big upsurge in my results and also my sense of personal power returning.

If you are at a stage where you feel your past is holding you back, or life has somehow beaten you down, try bringing your full focus forward.

Pour your energy and time into a new goal, a new challenge or a new purpose and you will see that life begins to attract new and exciting things to you.

  1. An interesting post Daniel. Through life, experience has taught me not to spend too much time in the past or in the future. There are many different views, depending on what psychological or sociological perspective you have. I have found the writings of Echart Tolle and the Power of Now of great benefit in these areas.

  2. Wow! So the song “Killing me Softly” comes to mind when I read this post. It was as if you were taking the words right from my very soul! I do not at all mean that in a bad way. it just amazes me how people can connect through words. I have been grieving for quite some time now, (and while that’s okay) I’ve let that, along with some other things really bring me down. I need to get back to my happy, motivated self!

    1. Thank you for the comment Kristian! I am so glad that it helped. Yes I was in a similar situation until recently. This idea of a Full Focus Forward is very powerful if you embrace it. Better times are ahead! I am so glad we are connected too 🙂 – DMS
